Grocery stores are finding new ways to serve customers with robots. The food shopping experience has not progressed much over the years. However, the robot called Smiley is helping to bring grocery stores into a new age by tracking data in a fun way.
Smiley gathers information on several things such as traffic, engagements, and all ways that shoppers interact with the store. Having these numbers will allow shop owners to create custom-tailored shopping experiences for their customers.
"We are learning how retail associates and consumers interact with an autonomous mobile robot, and whether there's an alternative merchandising channel for its front-end impulse offerings." Matt Tice, category leadership director at Mars Wrigley.
Using robots to create ideal shopping experiences will save the store in cost of goods, bring more significant customer satisfaction, and develop grocery stores to renew their strategies to engage and sell to shoppers.
