Engineers have created a unique mailbox that receives drone deliveries. About 1.7 million packages are stolen by "porch pirates" every day in the USA. These mailboxes offer and safe and climate-controlled area for consumer and business packages.
GPS coordinates guide the drone about 100 feet from the smart mailbox's vision-based landing system. An authentication process then verifies that the right drone delivers the right package. The drone could also come with an ultraviolet package sterilization feature. Also, community-based systems of electronic sensor stations would reduce smart drone mailboxes' prices for consumers.
"Drone companies have focused on all the innovative features of their drones, but if that innovation doesn't create a safe, secure, and convenient experience for consumers, it will never be adopted," Ryan Walsh, CEO, and co-founder of Valqari.
