A drone set a groundbreaking record delivering organs over 10 miles across Las Vegas. Transporting organs can be a costly process that can be harmful to the environment. Medical drones are an upgrade to how we can quickly and efficiently save lives.
Two recent drone based organ transport demonstrate future exciting possibilities. One drone flight brought research corneas from the Southern Hills Hospital to Dignity Health. The second drone flight delivered a research kidney from an airport to a small town in the Las Vegas desert. These flight demonstrations limited the number of hands handling the organs and had low carbon footprint.
"The success of last week's tests launches us into the future of organ transportation and will enable us to be even more successful in the coming years," says Joe Ferreira, CEO of Nevada Donor Network.
Drones have fewer financial setbacks than traditional organ transportation methods and offer move speed to deliver vital health care services than all other processes.
