A service robot called Promobot V.4 is taking temperatures in New York. Essential businesses may still see large numbers of people without knowing the state of their health. Promobot will keep communities safer by adding contactless screening in various places.
The autonomous robot uses features such as thermocontrol, face recognition, and sending information to staff to provide a precise analysis of their health. The robots are currently being used as a security measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"Currently, a person's temperature is commonly measured by an extra person with a thermometer. Not only is it a slow process but a dangerous one for healthcare professionals ― staff members themselves can become carriers of the virus," says Promobot executive Oleg Kivokurtsev.
Fevers are one of the first symptoms of contracting the coronavirus. Informing the public about their current health statistics will save countless lives from falling ill.
